Leadership Team Development

Organizations that follow a partnership model, such as family businesses, architecture firms and law firms, face different challenges than standard corporations.  In these organizations, members of the senior leadership team often operate fairly independently, have a significant equity stake, and may control key accounts.  As a result, it can be difficult to motivate these leaders to work toward the collective vision, and it can be tough to hold them accountable when they don’t.

To achieve the best results, a leadership team needs to be united in pursuing a collective vision.   The best strategic plan in the world is not going to succeed, if the leadership team tasked with implementing it is divided.

At TMC, we use a 3 step process to improve organizational leadership.

Assessment.  Through interviews with firm leadership, principals and associates, we gain a comprehensive understanding of organizational and interpersonal dynamics between key players and/or between functional areas or offices. This culminates in a detailed Organizational Analysis Report.

Organizational Review and Planning.  Next we sit down with the top leaders and discuss the findings of the Organizational Analysis Report, including recommendations for next steps to improve organizational functioning.

Implementation.  Finally, we provide coaching support for senior leaders as they implement the changes and process improvements developed in the second step.

The Organizational Analysis will provide your team with a clear understanding of any counterproductive interpersonal dynamics impacting firm performance, and it will give your team solid recommendations on steps to take to address these issues.
